A century of Montessori Teaching
Maria Montessori developed her teaching method in Italy, 100 years ago. Since then the Montessori movement has reached out around the world, and today this child centred, holistic approach, is as successful and popular as ever.
Within the Montessori system children learn by interaction with their environment, through the use of their hands and their senses. They choose from a wide range of activities, within an environment carefully structured and prepared by the teachers. The child is free to explore, manipulate and experiment, allowing for the fact that no two children are alike, and that each child’s development is unique.
Chichester Montessori Nursery was established in 1996 and is owned by Amelia Howitt.
“Both my children attended the school and had such a positive experience that when the opportunity to take over came up 12 years ago, I knew that I wanted to be involved”.
Mini Montessori, for children under the age of two, was opened in 2006 occupying its own fully equipped building and dedicated garden.
